Standard DMK-ERP Project Management Methodology

DMK-ERP has extensive project management skills and has been involved in the project management of a number of international multi million dollar projects in addition to countless implementations at much smaller sites and have a proven methodology that can be adapted for any size implementation without compromising the success of the project.

The DMK-ERP business model provides for either our Business Partners, or DMK-ERP staff, to handle project management and implementations but it remains the responsibility of DMK-ERP to ensure that our business partners comply with the standards that we have set from an implementation perspective.

It should however be made clear that a project methodology is a guideline and any expectation that the exact same project methodology can be applied to all projects is unrealistic.

The methodology is a guideline and it is the responsibility of the project manager together with the client to decide on the aspects of this guideline that will be applied on a specific project. The factors that will influence this decision are the project cost and availability of resources, both from a consulting and customer point of view.

Standard DMK-ERP Training Methodology

DMK-ERP is a specialised system, therefore it is suggested that specific individuals within each department or division be trained and then used specifically for the knowledge transfer of DMK-ERP related information to the rest of the organisation. This initially would require one dedicated person from each department that could work with us to set up DMK-ERP training material with a customer specific flavour. This long-term investment would ensure that training on DMK-ERP within the customer environment would be of a consistently high standard that can be maintained after project completion and can be administered and delivered from within the client’s organisation.

Types of Training

The Training can be broken down into three training groups, namely: End User, Management and Super User training.

End User training

These are the people that would be working on the system on a day-to-day basis. They will be working with the daily transactions and should have a detailed knowledge of their respective job functions on the system and understand the concept of integration.

Management training

This type of training concentrates on the extracting and use of the information on the system. Although management do not necessarily have to be able to do the detailed daily transactions, they must be able to analyse exception reports from the system to ensure the business is running smoothly and be able to spot a possible problem before it occurs or an opportunity to be exploited. In addition there are reports that can give vital information as to whether users are fulfilling their Key Performance Areas.  We shall however concentrate on exception report to ensure that management has the capability and tools to manage the exception rather than the rule.

Super User training

The Super User is a person in the organisation that has a vast amount of experience in his/her job function. This is the person that others within the department would seek advice from if they were unsure of an aspect concerning the day-to-day business transactions. This person would ideally know all the job functions within the department in great detail.

The Training Cycle

From the start of the project, we would (in conjunction with your dedicated training individuals), do a ‘needs analysis’ to determine the number of people to be trained in the different job functions, skills required for them to perform their job function, Key Performance Areas and identify what the syllabus content will be for the upcoming courses. It is from this ‘needs analysis’ that the end user training would be determined.

As the project progresses, the Super User plays a vital role. In conjunction with the DMK-ERP consultant in that particular application area, the super user will be trained using the ‘train the trainer’ training technique. The super user and DMK-ERP consultant will work together on the system, thus knowledge transfer of how the system works can be gained.

The super user will have significant input into the content of the user training courses. It would be the responsibility of the super user with assistance from  DMK-ERP consultant to adjust the standard DMK-ERP training material to be suited to the client's organisation requirements in accordance with business processes and job functions.
